We are thrilled to introduce you to Brenda Faatz, the author, and Peter Trimarco, the illustrator, of It’s Just So…
“This is our first book series, but not our first creative endeavor. Having already collaborated in writing and producing both music and scripts for live children’s theater programs, the writing of children’s books was a natural extension. Brenda is a critically-acclaimed musical theater performing artist and founder and director of the Notable Kids Arts Center in Denver. Peter is a former music industry creative director and executive producer turned publisher, as he is also co-owner and publisher of Beyond Cinema Magazine. We are inspired by the children we work with (which sometimes is each other) and have discovered a passion in creating original music and stories for children.”
When asked why they chose to become a part of the Playing Forward family, this is what they had to say:
“It has always been our goal to create a character and a message that really connects with children. As crazy as the little Lizzy character is, she is relatable and accessible. The Playing Forward platform allows multiple interactive mediums for engaging children and bringing Lizzy into their world.
Thinking about the future, this is what we have to look forward to:
“We see the launch of the Lizzy’s World channel as the first step in creating many projects for the PF VROOM platform. Our Lizzy character has already been reviewed by literary critics as ‘accessible’. However, the reviewers were referring to her personality at the time. With Playing Forward’s VROOM she will literally become more accessible and more interactive through the Pop-Up books, Video Books and VROOM add on games and activities. It was always our intention to have the “It’s Just So” books be a launching pad for doing an animated series. However, through this opportunity to introduce the series and the characters through augmented reality and video books, we feel we have moved forward in a much more engaging manner. Likewise we are on the cutting edge of where the industry is going both in education and children’s picture books. This is not passive entertainment for children. It is a true interactive experience, which teaches and entertains while requiring the engagement of children to be successful. We are thrilled to be a part of this and believe that it is only the beginning as more apps, curricula and SEL moments are added to the menu.”
We couldn’t be prouder to be partnering with these most lovely people, and their most lovely stories. Check out It’s Just So… on The VROOM now, and look for It’s Just So…Little! coming soon!
